A.C. Moore receives Palmetto Silver Award
A.C. Moore received the 2007-2008 Palmetto Silver Award from the state department! This award recognizes high levels of academic achievement and high rates of student academic improvement. Each winning school gets an award flag, a certificate, and a portion of $3 million in state funds. A.C. Moore's portion is $4,324.
Carolyn Duff honored by Healthy Learners
Carolyn Duff, our school nurse, has been recognized for her efforts to improve the health care of disadvantaged youth. She received the Dee Dee Chewning Healing Award from Healthy Learners. Healthy Learners, a ministry of the Sisters of Charity Health System, strives to improve children's academic achievements by removing health barriers to learning.
Congratulations Andrea Whetstone!!!!!
We are very proud of Andrea Whetstone, the P.E. teacher at A.C. Moore. Andrea was recently chosen to be "Teacher of the Year" for 2008-09. She was given this award by her peers for her wonderful attitude, hard work, and exemplary quality of teaching. Mrs. Whetstone also earned her National Board Certification this year!
Kindergarten Registration
Kindergarten registration begins Monday, March 3rd. If you have a child zoned for A.C. Moore Elementary and need information on how to enroll, please come by the office and see Madolyn Thorpe. Or you may call the school at 343-2910 and ask for Ms. Thorpe (the database specialist).
Susanna Melo wins trip to Japan!
Congratulations to Susanna Melo who just received word that she will be the recipient of the Japanese Fulbright Memorial Fund. Ms. Melo was selected from 100's of applicants to travel to Japan this fall.

Welcome to A.C. Moore Elementary School! We are so excited that you are visiting us via the Internet. I am very happy to join the faculty as principal this year. I am thrilled to come to a school that works to integrate the arts and technology into the curriculum. Our extraordinary teachers and staff work hard each day to provide our students with a quality education in a safe environment.
